Spaghetti Squash with Ground Turkey

AdvoCare's 24 Day Challenge is an amazing way to jumpstart your health goals and make healthy lifestyle change. The thing I absolutely love about the challenge is that you eat the entire time... just eat the way you know you're supposed to!

I'm a spaghetti/pasta nut, so this is one of my all time favorite recipes... on the challenge or not.

What you will need:
  • Jennie-O Ground Turkey
  • 1 Spaghetti Squash (it's hard to tell when they're ripe, but when you bake it, it'll soften up no matter what)
  • Cherry Tomatoes
  • Asparagus
  • Coconut or Sunflower Oil
  • Low Sodium Red Pasta Sauce (Stay away from cream based sauces and sauces with cheese)
  • (I do Sliced Mushrooms if I'm not doing a 10 day cleanse)

For the squash:
Preheat oven to 375
Cut the spaghetti squash in half the long way. Lay the halves face down on a cookie sheet that has a thin layer of water. (Helps steam the squash so it doesn't dry out)
Place in the oven for 45-60 minutes

For the meat:
In the meantime, cook your ground turkey or whatever meat you choose. I season it with a little bit of Tony's Cajun Seasoning, be careful about sodium intake though. (Post what healthy seasonings you like in the comments below).

For the veggies:
Put a little oil in the skillet, turn to medium heat. Sometimes I will sprinkle a little garlic salt on the veggies (do not add a ton. Too much sodium isn't good!)
I only do the cherry tomatoes for about 5-10 minutes (they need longer if they're pretty fresh)
Asparagus,  heat in the skillet for 10-15 minutes (depends if you like them crunchy or not).

Now, back to the squash. Scrape out the squash insides with a fork... it'll start to look like noodles. Fold in veggies, meat and heated up sauce.

It's a DELICIOUS alternative to spaghetti and very cleanse friendly. What cleanse-friendly seasonings do you like to use? I want more suggestions for our dinner tonight :)

This one has mushrooms instead of asparagus.
